Boy, as much as I like Toyota and NASCAR, I hate to see this:

A foreign car has no place in an American sport with American auto brands. I love them as personal cars and trucks (which will be my next big purchase), but leave them out of The Cup. We can't even keep a true U.S. sport truly American now.

Just another car thats gonna beat your queer eye guy Jeff Gordon. I really dont care if they join cause eventually they are all gonna have the "car of the future" that everyone will be driving and Gordon will still blow. In both senses fo the word.

Lots of Toy's are made in the U.S. now. In fact, I recall hearing recently they're about to pass one of the "Big 3" in U.S. sales.
Importation helped make the U.S. great -- as I'd suspect some people in Lafayette would tell you.
I know a lot of them are made here now, but it's still a foreign brand name.
And Salty, don't be mad just because your driver retired with only one championship! :-)

Here's another way of looking at it.
Let them join.
Since American autos are struggling at the moment this is a great way to go head to head. If the American cars win on the race track then it's good publicity to interested buyers and braggers.
The down side is that if the overseas car makers outslug the U.S., not only in durability, but on the track then we're in trouble.
Now about your original post... Brock you surprised me. How do you feel about Hideki Matsui and Ichiro Suzuki playing baseball in the United States?
You have a good point, but that is a serious down side.
As far as foreign players in U.S. sports, that's a different story. People are a lot different than machines. Every person should be given a chance to excel in any type of sport. We'd miss out on a lot of great athletes if we didn't allow them to play.
I just don't like to see foreign brands in NASCAR because you've already got Indy cars, etc. They've got plenty of different auto makers, but NASCAR is the sport where man-made brands have been American (save for that little Jaguar era a while back).
It really points back to your down side. Foreign autos, if dominate, could send the U.S. auto makers into further depths. Cars seem to have a greater impact on the economy than athletes.
